Prof. Fahed Hakim
Fahed Hakim MD is a Nazarene and a graduate of the Saint Joseph Seminar high school in Nazareth and of Hadassah and the Hebrew University School of Medicine in Jerusalem. Married to Rania Hakim, a dentist, with whom he shares the parenthood of their two boys. Prof. Fahed is an Associate Professor, Pediatrician, Pediatric Pulmonologist & Sleep specialist. He was appointed as the general director of the Nazareth Hospital EMMS in 2017, which is considered to be one of the most ancient hospitals in Israel and he has set his sights on leading it to best serve the Nazareth population and the area, by providing a high-standard medical care. Prof. Hakim is a senior physician in the Pediatric and Pediatric Pulmonary departments at Rambam Health Care Campus – Haifa, and an Associate Professor at the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine in Bar-Ilan University. His postdoctoral fellowship in sleep medicine was completed at the University of Chicago, Department of Pediatrics, Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, USA to becoming an authoritative voice in his field. Moreover, in 2020, Professor Fahed Hakim distinguished himself further by becoming a participant in the Inbar (Maoz) Program, a testament to his leadership qualities and his dedication to societal improvement. Professor Fahed Hakim is also a distinguished graduate of a unique program at Harvard Business School, designed specifically for young CEOs, facilitated by Maoz. This selective program is renowned for equipping emerging leaders with the critical skills, strategic insights, and innovative thinking necessary to lead successful organizations in the modern world. Prof. Hakim has excelled during his career by receiving numerous honors and esteems, such as The Rivka and Shimon Lenel Excellence Award for Clinical Research at Rambam Health Care Campus for his work in leading groundbreaking clinical studies. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Carrier Development Award from the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physician for his outstanding research achievements in sleep medicine. While considered to be an esteemed lecturer worldwide, he has actively participated in dozens of international conferences and was invited to give lectures by different scientific societies worldwide. He also received multiple social recognition such as the Paul Harris fellowship recognition by the Rotary international foundation for his unweaving commitment for the strengthening community resilience and appreciation of his tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world. Besides his clinical achievements, Prof. Hakim has multiple publications including chapters in medical textbooks especially in sleep medicine, biology of cancer, asthma, water pipes smoking and cystic fibrosis treatment. His research has been published in worldwide leading journals such as Cancer Research, Chest, Nature Medicine, Cell and others. Prof. Hakim is also active in the field of medical innovations and in developing medical products, and an advisor for some of the leading companies in the field. Since his appointment as a hospital director, Prof. Hakim is leading the hospital and the region into a positive change, building a large number of collaborations with medical and academic institutions in the region and worldwide, bringing the best minds home from all over the world, and taking an active part in the advisory boards for multiple health organizations and institutions.
