Graduated from the Sourasky School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University in 1977.
In 1983 he completed his specialty in pediatrics at The Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. In 1985, he received a Master of Science in pediatrics from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
From 1985-1989, he served as Director of Poriya Hospital near Tiberias, and since 1989 till 2015 served as Director General of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. From 1995-1996, he held the position of Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Health.
Throughout his professional career, Prof. Oren has filled many senior roles in the public health and military sectors, the latter mainly in the Paratroopers’ unit, as a Lt. Colonel.
